PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME

Summer Letter from the Principal

Dear Andress Community:

Many of you have heard the “We are…” cheer as popularized by the Movie “We Are Marshall.” In looking into the origins of this cheer, I have found that there are several colleges and universities that use this cheer and even have claimed to have been the originator. Included are universities with deep rooted tradition, pride and success such as Penn State, Notre Dame and USC. Penn State makes their whole stadium shake when doing the “We Are…” cheer. This led me to reflect on what this cheer really means and what it is communicating. These schools are telling the world that “we are proud and unique,” “we have something that you do not“, as well as “we have one up on everyone else because of who ‘we are’.”

Since being named as principal I have come to know what a fantastic place that Andress High School truly is. I have also had the privilege of meeting many proud Andress alumni that include parents, community leaders and educators (including current Andress employees!) I have further come to know the tremendous amount of history and tradition that exists at Andress High School. Golden Eagle pride runs deep and has been passed down from generation to generation for nearly 50 years. This led me to reflect on who “we are” at Andress High. With a school with such a rich history, there are many possible answers to this question, but here are a few.

We are…

We are… ANDRESS!!!
